Do you love avocados? This wonderful food doesn’t just make a great guacamole dip, it’s also a healthy superfood. In fact, avocados have more nutrients than almost any other food on the planet making them a favorite staple in my home!
How Avocados Benefit Your Health
One of the things I love about avocados is that they are a good food choice if you are watching your weight. That’s because they are high in protein and low in sugar but still so satisfying. Rich in monounsaturated fats, this delicious food can help you if you are struggling to balance your blood sugar or have diabetes.
And avocados are so jam-packed with important nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and fiber that you’d have to eat 2 or 3 bananas just to get the potassium in one avocado! They are an excellent source of folate, which can reduce birth defects — great news if you are pregnant.
For glowing, beautiful skin, try a few drops of avocado oil on your skin. It’s also great for fighting acne. I love to create my own affordable, homemade skin lotion by adding a few drops of peppermint, rosemary, or lavender essential oil to avocado oil.
Avocados also help with high blood pressure, weight loss, and regulating your hormones. They are good for your heart, too, and may reduce your risk of other health problems.

Avocados on Your Table
Most people aren’t aware that avocados are actually a fruit — and they’re incredibly flexible to add to your diet. When you’re short on time, cut one in half, add a sprinkle of lime juice, and eat with a spoon. You can mash them up to replace butter on your toast. Or, add them to a food processor to whip up delicious desserts. Try my Naturally Sweetened Chocolate Avocado Mousse recipe.
Here are more great ways I love to use avocados:
— Use them as a replacement for butter or other fats when you’re baking.
— Put avocado slices on top of your soup.
— Mash it up as an amazingly healthy food for your baby.
