Joy’s binding power is strong enough, free and safe enough to embrace everything, even falling to pieces from a broken heart.
Heartache and joy don’t go together. Joy is being surrounded by those we love, balloons, flowers, laugher. Heartbreak is the direct opposite-loneliness, depression, pain and darkness.
We want an easy life. Void of sorrow and tears. We’ll take the joy, thank you, but no more heartbreak. Some people are even willing to entertain sin as they step into it in order to pursue some elusive sense of joy. But that’s not the problem. What the world mistakes for joy is really a more fleeting contentment, lesser and not lasting — happiness.
Happiness is a counterfeit for joy. It is tied to events and circumstances. Joy, on the other hand can be felt and LIVED even in the midst of heartbreak.
Don’t allow the Evil one to take away your joy. No matter what the health diagnosis, heartbreak, poverty….no matter what life throws at you don’t let anything or anyone steal your joy! It’s not theirs to take.
Joy is a gift of the Holy Spirit, with freedom and purity that allows us to face all of life’s difficulties — the ups and downs with a steady undercurrent of peace. You may not be happy — life is filled with trouble, pain and tragedy but we can be assured that God is in control. The truth that God is in control makes it safe enough to embrace even sorrow.
“But let all those rejoice who put their trust in you;
Let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them;
Let those also who love your name
Be joyful in You.
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
with favor you will surround him as with a shield.”
(Psalm 5:11-12, NKJV)
